<lj:music>The Beach Boys - Wouldn't It Be Nice</lj:music>

"I remember those cheers, they still ring in my ears and for years they remain in my thoughts. 'Cause one night I took of my robe and, what'd I do?, I forgot to where shorts. I recall every fall, every hook, every jab, the worst way a guy can get rid of his flab. As you know my life was a jab, Though I'd rather hear you cheer when I delve into Shakespeare "A horse, A horse. My kingdom for a horse" I haven't had a winner in six months. And though I'm no Olivier, If he fought Sugar Ray he would say it the thing ain't the ring, its the play. So give me a stage, Where this Bull here could rage, And though I could fight I'd much rather recite: That's Entertainment. You wear whatever you can find on your cluttered bedroom floor. You carry books, notepads, reading glasses with you wherever you go. You have friends, but only a few who truly get where you're coming from. You frequent coffee shops, libraries, and the less crowded bars. You're obsessed with past people, past ideas, past lives.
i saw "adaptation" today. i remember chaos_evolved saying i would specifically like it, and he was right. i love when people make a statement like that and it follows though lol - spike jonze rules as well, i reccommend the dvd of his work if your a fan. rewatching the movie reveals so many things that make the ending even better, which at first seems odd. it took a drastic turn but ended well, however after rewatching it i appreciate the way the movie goes towards the end. so "stop apologizing for your existence" and see this film -

i went to the library today to see if i could find some interesting books to read over the brake. i usually prefer to buy them, but since i know im getting a bunch of books for Christmas, the library seemed like fun. ofcourse, it sucked, not even 1 kerouac book in stock. although they did, to my surprise, have some chuck pahlahniuk books. maybe all the kerouac stories were taken out, doubt it, i'll pretend thats the reason anyway.

they had a "for sale" rack, and i got "the count of monte cristo" for $.75, and a book on hiking lol.. it was 2 for $1 so i was feeling kinda in a nature/dharma bums inspired mood so i picked it up. its actually pretty cool the kind of trails and shit there are in the US, none really near me. heh

Took a trip to NYC today with antinorr for business and pleasure -lol-. Although, in someways there was no pleasure involved since we HAD to go for some shitty class -jk-. I needed to get some shit done at Baruch - transcripts and crap so we went there first. After that we headed over to Generations, then The Met. I really enjoyed the day in spite of the fact it was bittery cold, wtf it was even snowing!

Highlights:

Going to my old coffee stand (best cup of coffee you can ever have and $.50 too)

Getting a beat poster of "On The Road" from Generations

Randomly seeing the new Chris Cunningham DVD and buying it

Nearly getting attacked by some bum who wanted rolling papers " bah bah bleh booooooom"

Seeing Salvador Dali's "Madonna" at The Met (my fav) and a Jackson Pollock original

The guy who started crying on the bus because no one would give him a seat "i bet this bus has YOUR name on it - that's why you won't let me sit- oohhh my feet - (i was standing otherwise i would've gotten up just to shut this guy up - although some hardcore dude told him if he didn't stop he would drag him off the bus by his heels, that seemed to work as well lol)

ah it's been awhile since I took a city trip, felt good. Ofcouse like all good city trips it involved a walk through "the park" - washington sq pk - fun day!

today was a good day, for more reasons than one. its times such as these when i realize things are as they should be for a reason. and given enough time, will and faith, anything is possible really. i don't know if that means much to people, or if im really conveying this with the feeling as i see it now, but this is my thought for tonight.

despite a gloomy day defined by clouds and rain, i find myself experiancing what i am looking for.

"maybe not from the sources
you have poured yours
maybe not from the directions
you are staring at"

    <lj:music>The Smiths - How Soon Is Now</lj:music>

Today i had English again.. and it was a pretty interesting class. this class happens to have 3 senior obervers (senior citizens who come to class but dont get credit and don't do hw/tests) so anyway.. big up to Shirley and Roslyn har har.. soo there's this one guy, let's just call him "pulp fiction".. he walks around with a hunchback and usually blurts out incorrect answers or ones that are inappropriate and blatantly rude. for example he decided to point out that Walt Whitman was a homosexual, implying that it somehow affected his writing. whether it did or not wasn't even relevant to the class discussion and our professor was pissed at his comment. so today he gave this half assed comment about kate chopin's "the awakening" that made no sense really, so he tried to save himself by giving away the ending to everyone. this really angered the teacher and she let him know in a sort of angry way - then went on to another student. so this baby goes to the person next to him " ill just keep my mouth shut for the rest of the semester " he then proceeded to fold his hands and closed his book for the remainder of the class.. so much for showing one's age eh? lol the teacher then cut him off and said she was now listening to another kid and that he should sotp talking.. after class she said how she wishes he'd drop the class because of how rude he is . haha anyways i thought this would be amusing to everyone because it added amusement to my day. ncc! wooo

You approach somebody who?s fixing a flat tire on a highway, and you?re a stranger to that
person, and you come up and say, ?Got a flat tire?? The person doesn?t scream at you, ?What?s
it look like?!? He knows that you know he has a flat tire. The content of what you?re saying is
not the communication. It?s a recognition of the person as a gesture, like waving.

/////

i'll be gone for the weekend, and i think it will be good to get away.. hopefully there will be a well stocked bookstore where im going, will be much appreciated. yes-yes!
got a flat tire?
